Larva hatch from egg in 6 to 10 days (depending on temperature). The larval stage depends on temeperature and food availability lasting from 20 to 40 days. Fully-grown larva is approximately 33 mm long. The pupa is attached by a silken girdle and the cremaster on the foodplant and this stage last for aproximately 18 days.<\/li>\n<li>Flight period: from beggining of May to October or even November (in 2-3 generations).<\/li>\n<li>Hostplant: different <em>Fabaceae\u00a0<\/em>(<em>Trifolium, Medicago, Onobrychis, Lotus, Coronilla, Melilotus, Hippocrepis, Astragalus<\/em>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Similar species (in Europe):\u00a0<em>Colias alfacariensis<\/em>, <em>Colias aurorina<\/em>, <em>Colias erate<\/em>, <em>Colias hecla<\/em>, <em>Colias hyale<\/em>, <em>Colias palaeno<\/em> and <em>Colias phicomone.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/lepidoptera.nature4stock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/colias-croceus-f.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-80\" title=\"&lt;i&gt;Colias croceus&lt;\/i&gt;, female (Romania)\" src=\"http:\/\/lepidoptera.nature4stock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/colias-croceus-f-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"&lt;i&gt;Colias croceus&lt;\/i&gt;, female (Romania)\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Family: Pieridae Genus: Colias Species: croceus This species is common and can be found in a wide variety of grassy habitats from lowland area.
